Blazers Begin 4-Game Homestand on Friday

BIRMINGHAM - UAB Baseball (20-21, 5-10) hosts Rice (11-31, 5-10) this weekend at Young Memorial Field. Both teams are fighting for the opportunity to play in the conference tournament as the final month of the season begins.

THE LAST TIME OUT
The Blazers fell in the midweek game at Jacksonville State by a score of 9-5. Todd Clay and Camden Hayslip each had two hits. Hayslip drove in two runs while Wesley Helms scored two runs.
Last season, Rice took three out of four games from the Blazers. Two wins came in Houston and another win in Clearwater ending UAB's season. Colin Daniel tossed 8.2 innings and struck out 11 in the Green and Gold's lone win over the Owls in 2024. Nick Hollifield homered and had two RBI.
SCOUTING THE OWLS
Rice comes to Birmingham with an 11-31 record and are 5-10 in the American Conference. The Owls brought in David Pierce to take over just before conference play began in the middle part of March. Blaine Brown is the team's leading hitter and ranks 20th in the AAC with a .322 batting average. Tucker Alch has the best ERA and ranks 12th in The American with a 4.34 ERA.
SERIES HISTORY
Rice leads the overall series, 40-18. Rice also leads the series in Birmingham, 16-9.
