Blazers Win Game One Against Tulsa

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB Softball team (12-17) grabbed their second conference win of the year against Tulsa (16-14) by a final score of 4-3.
IN THE INNINGS
UAB loves to score in the first inning. The Blazers scored on an error by Tulsa, which ended up being the first of three errors. Hope Tucker recorded two RBIs in the game including the one in the first inning and one in the third inning when she hit a single to left field.
Three Blazers had multiple hits tonight with Hannah Dorsett, Bella Wiggins, and Lindsey Smith all going two for four. Caroline McLendon retired eight of the first nine batters, giving up just one hit.
Tulsa left two on base in the fourth inning and six total in the game. In the fifth inning UAB added another run on two hits and two walks. Hannah Miles hit a single up the middle to score Lindsey Smith.
The flood gates opened in the sixth inning when Tulsa tied the game at three a piece. Tait Davidson came in relief for McLendon during that sixth inning giving up just one hit. The Golden Hurricanes scored three runs on four hits.
In the bottom of the sixth inning Bella Wiggins started us off with a double. She came around to score on a passed ball. That would give UAB a 4-3 lead heading into the seventh.
Davidson gave up a hit, but a second doub;le play by Dorsett got the Blazers out of a jam and gave UAB the 4-3 win.
UAB will play Tulsa again tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. at Mary Bowers Field.
