Blazers Blow Early Lead, Fall at Middle Tennessee, 9-7

MURFREESBORO - UAB (13-5) saw a seven-run lead wash away after MTSU (11-6) scored nine unanswered runs over the course of the game to take the win, 9-7.

The Blazers scored all their runs in the top of the 2nd inning. With two on and two out, Jaden Anderson launched his first home run at UAB on a ball that traveled 428 feet to left center field as UAB took an early 3-0 advantage. Three batters later, Logan Braunschweig singled through the right side to bring home Alex Cheeseman. The Blazers' two-out rally continued as Nick Hollifield sent his first home run of the year to left center and UAB extended its lead to 7-0.

The Blue Raiders got going in the bottom of the 2nd when Brett Vondohlen scored on a wild pitch to score MTSU's first run.

In the bottom of the 4th, MTSU got two more runs on a two-run homer by Hayden Miller to cut the Blazer lead to 7-3.

The Blue Raider rally continued in the bottom of the 5th. Tyler Minnick roped a double to left to score Eston Snider to trim the lead to three. Two pitches later, Vondohlen homered to left center to cut the Blazer lead to one. On the next pitch, Nathan Brewer ripped a home run to right to tie the game.

Neither team would score again until the 8th inning. In the bottom half of the inning with one on, Brett Rogers' only hit of the game was a triple to left center to bring home Keaton Ray. Rogers would come around to score on a safety squeeze by Cade Badylak.
