Palmetto Intercollegiate Final Results

BIRMINGHAM – In a tournament that was shortened to 36 holes due to inclement weather, the UAB men's golf team finished in 7th place at the Palmetto Intercollegiate this week in Aiken, S.C.

Freshman Jonathan Ericsson notched his second-consecutive Top 20 finish and his third of the season by tying for 15th overall to lead the Blazers. On the Par 70, Ericsson shot 72-75 to finish at +7 overall.

Both sophomore Morgan Slaton and junior John Bruce tied for 25th overall at +10. Slaton shot 77-73, while Bruce went 80-70, and his even par in the second round was the low score for the Blazers overall.

Senior Paul Bruce tied for 33rd overall (76-75, +11), while Bernhard Koster (85-78, +23) rounded out UAB's efforts. UAB shot +38 as a team.

Clemson (+3) won the tournament by five strokes over USC Aiken, while Oscar Abrahamsson of USC Aiken won the individual title at -2.

The Blazers return to action on March 21-23 at the Schenkel Invitational in Statesboro, Ga.
