Mudd Sets Heptathlon School Record on Friday, Multiple Blazers Set More Personal Bests

BIRMINGHAM - UAB Track & Field competed in the UAB Vulcan Invite and the UAB Green and Gold Invite on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
The story of the day on Friday was Christiana Mudd, who broke the school record for most points in a Pentathlon. Mudd won four of her five events and finished the day with 3,832 points. By the end of the day, Mudd's total ranked third this season in the American Conference.
Birthe Franck-Petersen continues to take over the top 10 all time Shot Put throws. On Friday, Franck-Petersen's best throw was 13.50m (44' 3 ½"), which ranks third all time in UAB school history. The senior finished fifth on the day out of 41 throwers. Mya McDanal threw her personal best throw with a mark of 10.22m.
In the Long Jump, Juliana Patton finished seventh with a jump of 5.38m.
Two Blazers competed in the 60m Hurdles. Taylor Washington just missed qualifying for the finals with a time of 8.99. Corinne Ball set her personal record with a time of 9.13.
Gabby Washington finished 9th out of 66 runners in the 200m coming in at 24.83. Washington's time is 11th best in UAB school history. Leticia Quingostas finished at 25.35.
Regina Harris placed 4th out of 48 in the 400m with a time of 2:17.
In what was the Blazers' best event of the day, the Blazers had four of the top six finishes in the 1 Mile race. Lidia Longo was the overall leader coming in at 5:03. Lia Castillo finished third, Sangie Lincoln-Velez placed fifth, and Anna Behmer finished sixth.
Hope Foster competed in the High Jump for the Blazers. The freshman finished second with a mark of 1.63m (5' 4 ¼").
On Saturday, Destiny Roper kicked off the day for the Blazers in the 60m Prelims. The freshman placed third overall out of 66 runners with a time of 7.64. Roper placed seventh in the finals with a time of 7.68.
Regina Harris competed in the 400m. Harris placed second in Heat 4 with a time of 59.16.
Ariana Felton placed ninth in the 600m for the Blazers. Felton finished in 1:41.32, placing second in Heat 3.
Noelle Hambrick, Victoria Freeland, and Alana McCulla competed in the Pole Vault on Saturday. Hambrick placed fourth overall with a mark of 3.71m (12' 2"), setting her PR. Freeland placed eighth with a mark of 3.43m (11' 3"). McCulla also set her PR.
