Blazers Head to Clemson for Bob Pollock Invite

BIRMINGHAM – UAB Track & Field returns to action this weekend in Clemson as the Blazers are set to compete in the Bob Pollock Invite hosted by Clemson. Friday's events for UAB are slated to begin at 12 p.m. ET while Saturday's events will start at 10 a.m. ET.
THE FIELD
Competing with the Blazers in Clemson this weekend are Auburn, Charlotte, Clemson, Coastal Carolina, Duke, East Carolina, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, NC State, Ole Miss, Samford, Tennessee, Troy, and Vanderbilt.
THIS TIME LAST YEAR
Lidia Longo placed 11th out of 40 in the 1 Mile run. Longo ran her then-personal best time of 4:57.76. Lia Castillo also ran her then-personal best 1 Mile time with a time of 5:04.69. Victoria Freeland and Noelle Hambrick represented the Green and Gold in the Pole Vault. Both Freeland and Hambrick vaulted a mark of 3.48m (11' 5"), with Freeland setting her then-personal best. Longo and Kenlie Nelson ran the 3000m race with Longo finishing with a time of 10:10.27 and Nelson finished fourth out of 16 in Heat 4 with a time of 10:19.02.
THE LAST TIME OUT
Sarah Hopkins, Laney Webb, Bailey Baker, Katie Keur, Madison Cameron, Katelyn Valtos, and Fiona Eastman all recorded their personal bests in their respective events in the Samford meets two weeks ago. The day began with the weight throw, an event in which all the Blazers finished with personal bests. Hopkins (15.18m), Baker (12.98m), and Webb (12.67m) all saw their previous bests fall. Hopkins continued to solidify the third-best weight throw in school history. Katie Keur and Lidia Longo had excellent finishes in the 3000m race. Keur finished fourth with a time of 9:55.77 and Longo finished sixth with a time of 9:59.46. Keur's time was her 3000m personal best. Kenlie Nelson, Sangie Lincoln-Velez, and Savannah Meyer also finished in the top 15 overall. Corinne Ball notched her season-best in the triple jump on Friday. The junior finished with a mark of 11.81m and placed sixth overall in the event.
