UAB Drops First Midweek of the Year

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB Softball team (8-7) dropped their first midweek of the year at Mississippi State (13-2) by a final score of 11-1.

UAB played their first top 25 team in the country today in #22 Mississippi State in Starkville, Mississippi. Mississippi State started the scoring in the second inning with a three run home run. This was one of the Bulldogs four home runs they hit tonight.

UAB answered in the top of the third with an RBI single from Bella Wiggins that scored Hannah Miles. Miles got on base with a double to right center.

The Bulldogs added three runs in the third inning and five runs in the fourth inning to take an 11-1 lead. This ended the game with the Bulldogs being up 10 runs after four innings.

The Blazers will play another top 25 team twice this weekend at #23 Alabama.

UAB will travel to Tuscaloosa to play in the Crimson Classic this weekend Friday-Sunday.
