Hot Start Gives Blazers Sunday Win

The scoring started early and often for the Green and Gold scoring in every inning except for the fifth. UAB scored five runs on five hits in the first inning. Lindsey Smith started the scoring off with a single to center field for her eighth RBI of the season. Jenna Madison started in her first collegiate game and added to the first inning scoring with a two RBI double.
UAB continued to score in the second and third innings, this time on a fielding error by Indiana State. Alyssa Aguilar came across the plate three times including on a wild pitch in the second. Hannah Miles hit her first career home run to put the Blazers ahead 9-0 after three innings. Four players hit their first career home runs this weekend (Miles, Aguilar, Wortham, and Tucker).
Wortham hit a single to get her third RBI of the game in the 4th inning. Indiana State added runs in the third and fourth innings to cut into the lead (12-6). UAB just needed to score two runs to put the run rule into effect. The Blazers scored three runs in the sixth inning to put this game away. Miles hit an RBI single and Tucker hit a two RBI single to score three runs.
