ANDY KENNEDY RETURNS TO NC STATE
- Andy Kennedy was part of the 1987 ACC Tournament Champion team at NC State coached by Jim Valvano.
- Kennedy is 5-6 against ACC opponents as a head coach.
- UAB opened the 2025-26 season with a dominant win over Mississippi Valley State 106-55, on Monday night.
- In the 51-point win, Chance Westry (23) and Jacob Meyer (22) surpassed 20 points and five total Blazers scored more than 10 points.
- Chance Westry went 8-12 from the field with five boards, putting together his best collegiate performance to date.
- MVSU shot 16-for-55 (29.1%) from the field, the worst performance by a UAB opponent since Millsaps shot 11-for-57 (19.3%) back in 2021.
- Senior guard Ahmad Robinson led UAB with seven assists to go along with his 14 points and five rebounds.
- UAB's 106 points were the most since the Blazers scored 109 vs Auburn-Montgomery last season. The 51-point win over the Delta Devils was the largest since the same victory over AUM, Nov. 18, 2024.
SCOUTING NC STATE
- NC State scored 114 points against NC Central to start 1-0.
- Seven players scored double-digits in the 114-66 win. Darrion Williams led the team with 19.
- The Wolfpack returned two players from last season's team (Jordan Snell and Paul Mcneil Jr.).
- NC State brought in nine Division I transfers including two McNeese players that followed Will Wade to Raleigh (Alyn Breed and Quadir Copeland).
MILESTONE WATCH
- Daniel Rivera is 14 rebounds away from 500 in his collegiate career.
- Chance Westry set a career high in points with 23 against MVSU.
- Westry also set a career high in other major categories except for assists.
- KyeRon Lindsay-Martin scored his 300th career point against MVSU on Monday. He now has 305 total points.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Blazers head to NC State for the second ever meeting between the teams.
- UAB holds a 1-0 record in the series with the only matchup coming in 2010.
- Elijah Millsap had a double-double with 27 points and 15 boards.
- UAB was the No. 2 seed in the NIT when the Blazers beat NC State.
NEW ROSTER
- In this new age of college athletics, UAB returned just one player (Joey Kahn) and zero scholarship players from the 2024-25 season.
- UAB added six Division I transfers, four JUCO transfers, two freshmen and three walk-ons to round out the 2025-26 roster.
- Of those 10 transfers, three have played at three or more schools (KyeRon Lindsay-Martin, Ahmad Rodinson, and Daniel Rivera).
- Dayjaun Anderson, Quaran McPherson, and Chance Westry are the other three Division I transfers.
- Ari Gooch and Evan Chatman both came from McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas.
SUCCESS UNDER ANDY KENNEDY
- UAB is one of six DI teams to have made four consecutive conference championship games (Houston, Yale, Drake, Gonzaga, and Saint Mary's).
- The Blazers are coming off their fifth straight 20+ win season.
- Over the last five years, UAB has won 125 games which is tied for eleventh most in the NCAA during that period. That is also the most by any UAB coach during a five year span.
- The Blazers have four straight post-season appearances including two NCAA tournament appearances and two NIT appearances.
