Blazers Dominate Rhodes in 56-Point Win

<strong>BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –</strong> UAB men's basketball (3-2) dominated Rhodes 112-56, Monday night in Bartow Arena. The contest saw six Blazers score in double figures as Chance Westry (21 points) and Daniel Rivera (20 points) combined to score 41 points on the night to lead the team. 12 different players saw action during the game as UAB cleared the bench in the final minutes to claim the 56-point win. <br />

The Blazers dominated the glass, outrebounding Rhodes 62-34, as Rivera grabbed 15 rebounds to secure a double-double. KyeRon Lindsay-Martin added to the rebounding party, snagging 14 rebounds of his own to go alongside 11 points to secure a double-double.<br />
<br />
Phil Dotson and Sam Maddoxx led Rhodes, scoring 13 and 11 points, respectively, as the duo combined to hit six three-pointers.<br />

<strong>Game Notes</strong>
<ul>
<li>Dayjaun Anderson tallied career highs in three categories: points (13), rebounds (four), and steals (three).</li>
<li>Westry started the game off 6-for-7, scoring nine of the first 21 Blazer points. </li>
<li>Westry has scored in double figures in every game so far this season, while topping the 20-point mark for the fourth time in five games.</li>
<li>Daniel Rivera recorded the Blazers' first double-double of the season, scoring a season-high 20 points alongside 15 rebounds.</li>
<li>KyeRon Lindsay-Martin also posted a double-double with 11 points and a career-high 14 rebounds.</li>
<li>Six Blazers scored in double figures on the night, the most in a game this season for UAB.</li>
<li>Lance Carr recorded his first points of his collegiate career on a layup. </li>
<li>Ari Gooch threw down a fastbreak dunk to score his first points as a Blazer.</li>
<li>UAB shot 49 percent from the field (42-for-85), 36 percent from three (9-for-25) and 67 percent from the free-throw line (19-for-28).</li>

<strong>How it Happened</strong>
<ul>
<li>UAB's leading scorer, Chance Westry, put up seven early points to give UAB a 15-8 lead. </li>
<li>UAB started 2-for-2 from the three-point line after a tough start to the season from behind the arc.</li>
<li>Sam Maddox scored 11 points in the first 10 minutes for Rhodes, getting the Lynx to within six [19-13].</li>
<li>UAB led by as many as 26 in the first half. Westry led the Blazers with 16 points, followed by Daniel Rivera, who had a season high in points (13) and rebounds (8) in the first half. </li>
<li>The Blazers ended the half on an 11-0 run [60-32]. </li>
<li>Rivera grabbed his 10th rebound of the day at the 17:31 mark in the second half for UAB's first double-double of the season. The Blazers led 63-37 at that point. </li>
<li>UAB outscored Rhodes 52-22 in the second half. </li>
<li>12 guys found the floor tonight with 11 Blazers recording a statistic. Lance Carr got his first collegiate points at the 2:23 mark of the second half. </li>
<li>Ari Gooch closed the game for UAB, knocking down two free throws to close out the 56-point win [112-56]</li>
