BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UAB men's basketball (4-2) defeated in-state foe, South Alabama, 80-72 on Friday in Bartow Arena. Five Blazers scored in double figures as Jacob Meyer paced UAB with six made three-pointers, leading to 24 points. Chance Westry kept the ball moving, as he recorded a double-double on 10 points and a career high 11 assists. With his 10 points, Westry extended his streak of scoring in double figures in every game this season.

Chaze Harris led South Alabama (6-1) with 25 points on 10-for-17 shooting on the night. Adam Olsen added 18 points to help pace the Jaguars' offense.

On the win, the Blazers remain unbeaten at home against South Alabama.
The Blazers' 11 three pointers are the most made from deep this season.
Meyer's 24 points are his most with the Blazers and second most of his career (32 vs ULM, 3/5/24 with Coastal Carolina).

Evan Chatman set a career high on the glass with 11 rebounds and is now averaging 8.8 per game.
The Blazers outrebounded South Alabama 42 to 29, marking the first time UAB has held its opponent under 30 boards.
Ahmad Robinson tied his career-high behind-the-arc, with four made three-pointers.

How it Happened

The Blazers jumped out to an 8-0 lead with a Robinson three, Rivera and-one, and a pair of Westry free throws [8-0].
A Chatman dunk put an end to a seven-point USA run [10-7].
The Jaguars opened an 8-3 run to pull ahead with a lay-up and quick dunk off a UAB inbounding turnover. [13-15].
Back-to-back buckets from Meyer pulled the Blazers back ahead, giving UAB a two-point lead into the under-eight-minute media timeout [22-20].
Seven straight Lindsay-Martin points put the Blazers up six, while a Lindsay-Martin block and a Rivera fast break forced the first called timeout of the game from South Ala. [31-23].
Meyer and Westry combined for five points to close out the half to extend the UAB lead to a first-half high of 10 points [36-26].
UAB and South Alabama traded buckets through the second media timeout of the half, with the Blazers increasing their lead to 13, the game-high [47-34].
South Alabama cut the lead to four after a 16-7 run, including a trio of threes [54-50].
The Blazers reopened the lead to 10 with a pair of Meyer threes just before setting a new career-high with his sixth of the game.
South Alabama shut down the Blazer offense for three and a half minutes, taking a 13-3 run to tie the game at 67 with under three minutes on the clock.
Robinson sank a clutch three-pointer to regain the lead [70-67] as the Blazers closed the game through a series of clutch free throws for the eight-point win [80-72].
