UAB Earns 3-3 Draw in Back-and-Forth Battle at FAU

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The UAB men's soccer team battled to a thrilling 3-3 draw against Florida Atlantic on Friday night at FAU Soccer Stadium.

The Blazers (4-7-2, 1-4-1 AAC) struck first early in the second half when Patrik Fagan buried a penalty kick in the 47th minute to give UAB a 1-0 lead. That was Fagan's third goal in two games. FAU (9-3-1, 4-1-1) responded quickly with Kerfalla Toure equalizing in the 52nd minute off an assist from Oliver Møller-Jensen. FAU had only conceded one goal at home the entire season and was a perfect 7-0 before UAB came to town.

The Owls built momentum from there, scoring two more goals in quick succession. Fabian Wagner made it 2-1 in the 61st minute before Møller-Jensen added a goal of his own just three minutes later to extend the FAU advantage to 3-1.

In the 70th minute, Lucas Rizzo cut the deficit to one with help from Lucas Nordin and Gael Zackrisson. Rizzo then completed the comeback with his second goal of the night in the 82nd minute, again assisted by Zackrisson and Carson Brice, to even the score at 3-3.

The Blazers held strong in the final minutes as FAU went down a man following a red card to Emil Lausten in the 84th minute. Despite being outshot 15-5, UAB capitalized on its chances and leaned on goalkeeper Francisco Ranieri, who made five saves in the draw.

Rizzo's brace puts him at three total goals on the season, while Fagan recorded his fourth goal of the year.

UAB will return home for Senior Day against FIU as it continues American Conference play on Wednesday at 7:00 PM.
