BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men's soccer team (5-7-2, 2-4-1 American) closed out its home schedule in style on Wednesday night, earning a 2-0 victory over Florida International (6-8-2, 4-4) at PNC Field.
After a scoreless first half, the Blazers came alive in the second, striking twice in a 13-minute span to secure their second conference win of the season.
Senior Alan Melendez broke the deadlock in the 69th minute, finishing off a well-worked play assisted by Ole Jessen and Gael Zackrisson. The goal marked Melendez's second of the season and gave UAB the momentum they needed.

Goalkeeper Francisco Ranieri continued his strong run of form, recording three saves in route to his third clean sheet of the year.
