Men’s Soccer Preview: Florida Atlantic

BOCA RATON – The UAB men's soccer team (4-7-1, 1-4 American) travels to Florida Atlantic (9-3, 4-1 American) for a conference game on Friday night at 6:00 p.m.
UAB last saw the field on Oct. 15 when they beat No. 17 North Carolina 2-1. This was the first ranked win since the 2021 season against Kentucky.
Florida Atlantic lost to Charlotte last week for their first conference loss of the season. Charlotte swapped as FAU dropped from the rankings while the 49ers moved to No. 20.
Series History
The series is all tied at seven wins a piece. UAB won the last matchup in 2024, 3-2 on Sept. 21. FAU had won five straight games before last year's contest.
Common Opponents
UAB and FAU have played four common opponents so far this year: Jacksonville, Missouri State, FGCU, and Memphis. UAB has a 2-1-1 record against those four teams, losing only to Memphis. FAU is 4-0 against those teams, winning by one goal three times.
American Weekly Honors
Oct. 21
Francisco Ranieri recorded ten saves in a win at No. 17 North Carolina getting his second win of the year. Ranieri was named Goalkeeper of the Week.
Patrick Fagan scored both goals in the win at No. 17 North Carolina. Fagan was named Offensive Player of the Week.
Sept. 29
Mabon recorded five saves in a 4-0 shutout win over Missouri State, he also recorded an assist on a long punt to Tony Kim.
Doh was named as an honorable mention for the week with a top bins goal against Missouri State. He hit a half volley from 35-yards that hit the cross bar and went down into the goal. Danslet scored a goal in UAB's 4-0 win over Missouri State and helped earn the shutout.
Sept. 9
Ole Jessen received the Defensive Player of the Week Honors playing in all 180 minutes on the week, scoring two goals from his outside back position. Humphrey Doh grabbed American Conference honorable mention for his three assists against USC Upstate.
