Women’s Soccer Defeats Florida Atlantic on the Road

BOCA RATON, Fla. – UAB women's soccer scored twice in the first half and held off Florida Atlantic for a 2-0 win Sunday afternoon at the FAU Soccer Stadium for its first road win of the year.
Ava Mills put the Blazers in front in the 16th minute, finishing a pass from Lauren Lucero for her fourth goal of the season. Lucero set up another just 14 minutes later, assisting Avery Berryman on a goal in the 30th minute to double the lead. Berryman's goal also marked her fourth of the season.
From there, UAB's defense and goalkeeper Leah Parsons did the rest. Parsons made four saves to record her fifth shutout of the season, helping the Blazers improve to 5-4-6 overall and 2-2-3 in American Conference play.
UAB outshot Florida Atlantic (4-9-3, 1-4-2) 8-5 and the Owls held a 54-46 possession edge but couldn't convert its chances.
Up next, the Blazers are back at home on Thursday, October 23 to host Temple. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT.
