TULSA, Okla. – Yaxel Lendeborg scored a career high 28 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, dished out six assists and blocked four shots to lead UAB men's basketball (13-8, 6-2 AAC) to a 78-68 win at Tulsa (9-12, 3-5 AAC) on Wednesday night.

Lendeborg got the Blazers going early, scoring UAB's first five points, sparking an early lead. The Blazers' largest lead of the first half came with 5:29 remaining after Alejandro Vasquez hit a three to make it 32-21.

However, Tulsa was able to close the half on a 11-4 run to cut its deficit to just four points at the break. UAB led 36-32 with Lendeborg scoring 16 of his 28 points before the break.

The Golden Hurricane took their first lead of the game with 17:28 remaining after Isaiah Barnes' dunk.

Tyren Moore caught fire in the second half for UAB, knocking down three three-pointers, sparking an 11-0 run to put the Blazers ahead 49-40 with 13:23 remaining.

UAB led by 10 after Bradley Ezewiro's layup through contact at the 6:16 mark, but Keaston Willis knocked down back-to-back triples to make it 64-60 right away.

Leading by six points with 1:34 remaining, Lendeborg found Toney in the corner for three to put the game away. Efrem "Butta" Johnson went 4-for-4 from the free throw line down the stretch and the Blazers held on for the 78-68 win.

NOTES

Yaxel Lendeborg had a huge night with a career best 28 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and four blocks for his 13^th double-double of the season.
Lendeborg has had at least five assists in six-straight games.
Ja'Borri McGhee scored 14 points while shooting 6-for-10 from the field.
The victory marks the first time the Blazers have won this season while scoring under 80 points.
