SERIES HISTORY
UAB leads the all-time series over the Bulls, 41-21. The Blazers have faced the Bulls more than any other program. UAB won both meetings during the 2023-24 season, downing the Bulls in Birmingham before picking up a win over USF in the American Conference Tournament semifinal.
Andy Kennedy was 5-1 as a player against the Bulls and holds a 4-0 record as a head coach.
LAST TIME OUT
The Blazers picked up their first road win of the season at Florida Atlantic on Sunday evening, defeating the Owls by a score of 81-76. Yaxel Lendeborg scored 22 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out seven assists in the win.
YEAR TWO YAX
Yaxel Lendeborg is posting even more impressive numbers during his second year at UAB. He is averaging 16.4 points, 10.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists so far this season for the Blazers, leading the team in each category. He is the third Blazer (Carlos Williams, Andy Kennedy) to open a season with three straight games with at least 20 points. Lendeborg earned AAC Player of the Week honors after averaging 23.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 7.5 assists in a pair of wins over Tulane and Florida Atlantic.
APPROACHING HISTORY
The Blazers have won 111 games over the last five seasons, approaching a program record for the most wins over any five-year stretch. The previous record of 117 was set from 1981-1986.
CRASH THE BOARDS
This season, UAB is again among the top rebounding teams in the nation, ranking 15th in the country in rebounds per contest with 41.1. UAB is especially strong on the offensive glass with 14.7 offensive boards per game, which is 12th in the nation. Yaxel Lendeborg led the team in rebounding last season with 10.6 per game. He has grabbed 15 or more rebounds in 12 games as a Blazer, including a 21-rebound game vs. Florida Atlantic which ranks second in program history.
