TAMPA, Fla. – UAB Men's Basketball (11-7, 4-1 AAC) jumped out to a 20-point lead in the first half and hung on down the stretch to pick up a 92-83 win on the road at South Florida (9-8, 2-2 AAC).

Christian Coleman scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds while Tony Toney scored a season-high 18 points while shooting 4-for-6 from beyond the arc.

The Blazers opened up a big lead in the final 10 minutes of the second half, starting with a solo 8-0 run from Tony Toney. After Toney got in the lane for a short floater, he knocked down threes on back-to-back possessions.

After USF scored with 4:38 left in the first half to make it a 33-23 game, the Blazers closed the half on a 14-4 run to take a 47-27 lead into the locker room. Christian Coleman punctuated the half with a slam after Efrem "Butta" Johnson found him next to the rim.

The Bulls came out in the second half firing, cutting into the UAB lead immediately. The Blazers were able to maintain their double-digit lead for the majority of the second half until the 2:49 mark.

Jayden Reid scored 22 of his 26 points in the second half for the Bulls, including 11 points in the final six minutes.

UAB was able to hang on for the 92-83 victory in the final moments as Tyren Moore and Efrem "Butta" Johnson hit each of the team's final eight free throw attempts in the last minute of the contest.

UAB's 92 points are the most USF has allowed at home since the 2022-23 season.
The Blazers have scored over 90 points seven times this season, matching their total from the 2023-24 season.
Christian Coleman scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds for his third 20-point game of the season. He also added three assists.
Tony Toney continued his hot shooting from beyond the arc with 18 points on 4-of-6 shooting from three. He is 12-for-23 from three over the last three games.
Efrem "Butta" Johnson broke out of his slump with a 14-point night on 5-for-8 shooting from the field. He also grabbed six rebounds and dished out three assists.
Yaxel Lendeborg added 11 points while grabbing five rebounds, dishing out six assists and picking up three steals.
UAB won the rebounding battle 40-20, marking their largest rebounding margin in a game since March 7, 2024 vs. Temple.
The Blazers have won 112 games over the last five seasons, just five shy of the previous five-year best set from 1981-86.
UAB has won 14 of the last 16 meetings with South Florida.
