UAB Women’s Soccer Battles No. 15/11 Memphis to a Scoreless Draw

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's soccer team drew 0-0 against No. 15/11 Memphis Thursday night in its first home conference match and second conference match this season.
The Blazers move to 4-2-2 on the year and gave the Tigers (5-1-1) their first tie of the season. Tonight's tie is the second time the two teams have tied in their all-time series history.
UAB's keeper Anika Toth had five saves on the night. Toth faced 13 shots from Memphis but was unphased to lead the Blazers defense to another shutout. It was Toth's 11th shutout of her career and fourth of the season.
On the attack, UAB had opportunities but wasn't able to put away shots. The Blazers had four shots on the night, two coming from Avery Berryman, one from Lauren Lucero and Maiya Clark.
In the 33rd minute, Tiger Ashley Henderson was called for a red card and the Tigers were down a player the rest of the match.
Up next, UAB is back on the road to face conference mate Rice in Houston, Texas on Thursday, Sept. 26. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT and will air live on ESPN+.
