Women’s Soccer Falls at Rice

HOUSTON, Texas – The UAB women's soccer team (4-3-2, 1-1-1 AAC) fell to Rice (8-2-1, 2-1-0 AAC) on the road, 2-1.
The Owls scored first on Thursday night when Leah Chancey found the bottom center of the net in the 28thminute. At the 37th minute, Taylor Rish scored the second goal of the night for Rice. Heading into halftime, the Owls lead 2-0.
The Blazers got on the board in the second half with a late goal in the 76th minute. Jette Zimmer netted a goal in the top center to make the score 2-1. Zimmer's goal was assisted by Louise Larson and Kendall Page. Zimmer's goal was her first of the season and sixth of her collegiate career.
Up next, UAB is back at PNC Field to host Florida Atlantic on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 1 p.m. CT. The match will air live on ESPN+.
