Women’s Soccer Hosts Florida Atlantic on Sunday

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's soccer team hosts Florida Atlantic at PNC Field on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. CT.

SERIES HISTORY
The match marks the 12th time the two teams have faced each other. The Owls lead the series 7-1-3 with the last match taking place in Boca Raton last season where match ended in a 1-1 tie.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE BLAZERS
UAB fell 2-1 at Rice on Thursday night. Jette Zimmer scored her first goal of the season to put the Blazers on the board. It was her sixth goal of her collegiate career.
SCOUTING THE OWLS
Florida Atlantic is coming off a 0-0 draw against South Florida on Thursday. The Owls are 2-5-3 on the season and 1-1-1 in conference play. FAU is led by Michelle Horan and Drew Dempsey who have scored two goals this season. Olivia Bora, Emmy Schleifer, Daniella Diaz, Stella Rubidoux, Jodi Smith and Sloane Young all have one goal apiece.
BREAKOUT CANDIDATES
Abbey Burns has been recognized with an AAC award by earning Honorable Mention (Sept. 26) for her efforts against Samford. Burns has registered five goals so far this season. Sydney Bolinger has netted two goals and Abby Graeser has one goal this year.
Maia Sirota recorded her first collegiate goal at UTSA and has tallied two assists so far, with her first to Graeser in the season opener win against ETSU and her second assist to Bolinger at Samford.
BRILLIANCE IN GOAL
This week, Anika Toth earned AAC Goalkeeper of the Week for her performance against the ranked Tigers. So far this season, Toth has recorded four shutouts. Her first coming in UAB's home opener against ETSU (1-0), at home versus Ole Miss (1-0), at Southern Miss (1-0) and against No. 15/11 Memphis (0-0). With the 1-0 win at Southern Miss, Toth recorded her 10th career shutout.
Also at Southern Miss, Toth took a free kick and assisted Bolinger in scoring the goal to put the Blazers up. It was the first assist of her career, and she earned AAC Honorable Mention for her efforts.
