UAB Volleyball Begins Season with Two Home Games

BIRMINGHAM - The UAB Volleyball team will host two games this weekend to kick off the 2024 season. The Blazers will host Alcorn State on Friday at 7 p.m. and Mississippi State on Saturday at 5 p.m.
Live stats for both games can be found here and you can stream both games on ESPN+.
Look for outside hitters Mia Reese (289) and Abby Jones to bring the power and big swings in 2024. Defensively, Brooklyn Allison (186) and Asli Celikkol (226) bring back a lot of digs from 2023. Madison Page brings back a team high of 105 blocks on the front line.
Alcorn State
The Braves come into the 2024 season after going 1-21 last season. The last time Alcorn State had double digit wins in a season was 2018 when they finished 10-20. 2nd year head coach Mariah Prince has also coached at Mississippi Valley State, which was the one team the Braves beat last year.
Mississippi State
The Bulldogs come into the 2024 season after going 13-15 last season. Mississippi State played four ranked opponents last season including a win over #14 Florida 3-0. Samford will host Mississippi State on Friday before the Bulldogs come over to Bartow Arena on Saturday. Julie Datry Dennis enters her 17th season as a head coach and 11th with the Bulldogs.
Promotions
On Thursday night the UAB volleyball team will be located at Blazer Village (outside of Protective Stadium) signing autographs for the first home football game.
Friday: $3 ticket discount to all who save their ticket stub from the football game against Alcorn State. Post game autographs.
Saturday: $3 ticket for all youth dressed in uniform. Marketing table set up by entrance distributing posters, coloring station, and poster making station. Post game autographs.
