UAB Men’s Soccer Opens New Era at Home Against No. 6 UNC

BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's soccer will open the David Lilly era on Thursday night as the Blazers host No. 6 North Carolina at PNC Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT.
The Blazers will look to build some momentum in their first season under Lilly following a 0-11-4 campaign in 2023.
Youth that wear their jerseys to the match on Thursday will be eligible for a discounted $3 ticket.
WATCH
The match will stream live on ESPN+ with James Hardy and Joel Wallace on the call.
SERIES HISTORY
The all-time series is tied at one game apiece with both meetings coming in the 1999 and 2000 seasons. The Blazers took the last meeting in Birmingham, 2-1.
SCOUTING THE TAR HEELS
Two-time national champion North Carolina is one of the premier programs in college soccer and the Tar Heels are coming off a season where they went 11-4-7 and reached the NCAA Quarterfinals. UNC returns 25 players from last year's squad.
NEW FACES
The new coaching staff brought in a plethora of new players for the 2024 season. This offseason, the Blazers added 15 newcomers to the roster.
SOPHOMORE BREAKOUT CANDIDATES
Tony Kim was recognized by Top Drawer Soccer as a potential breakout candidate for the Blazers. He showed flashes of his skill during his first season on campus and will look to improve the Blazers' attack. Humphrey Doh is also entering his second season after scoring two goals in 2023.
The Tacos & Hot Dogs Chihuahua food truck will also be on site.

The best way to catch all the action is by purchasing a Gold Card. Season tickets for all three sports can be purchased with the 2024-25 Gold Card. The Gold Card will allow you to gain access to all home events for women's soccer, men's soccer, volleyball, women's basketball, baseball, and softball.
