Another Run Rule Secures Series Win Over FAU

The scoring started early, as it has the last few games. Nick Hollifield drove in Darryl Buggs with another sacrifice fly. This was the 4th sac fly of the series. After that, Brayton Brown stepped up and hit a ball way into the palm trees to score two runs. In the 2nd innings UAB continued to pour on more runs. Nick Hollifield delivered again and cleared the bases with a double to left center. Jake SMallwood decided to add to the scoring as well when he drove in Hollifield. UAB led 7-0 after two innings.
UAB scored at least two runs in the innings one through four. Two runs came across in the 3rd inning because of Tyler Harrington home run and a Logan Braunschweig single. Five more runs in the 4th inning would blow this game wide open. Peyton Puckett, Gavin Lewis Jr., and Darryl Buggs all hit RBI singles. Brayton Brown scored Darryl Buggs with an RBI walk. UAB led 14-0 after four innings, and the run rule was in effect.
Braxton Shelton pitched all seven innings allowing just one walk and one hit. He struck out three batters while retiring 21 batters. UAB added one more run in the top of the 7th inning when Gavin Lewis Jr. singled to score Jax Yoxtheimer. UAB won the game 15-0 to win the series.
UAB is now tied for 5th in the AAC standings, after being in last place three weeks ago.
