AUBURN – UAB Softball fell to Auburn in five innings on Tuesday night. The Green and Gold went hitless and runless for the evening, falling to a record of 17-22 on the season.

IN THE INNINGS
UAB started the inning striking out swinging before Hannah Dorsett was hit by a pitch to put the Green and Gold on base. She then went on to advance on a wild pitch to sit in scoring position early for the Blazers. However, UAB was unable to capitalize and went runless in the top of the first. Auburn responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning after the bases were loaded.

The Blazers halted the momentum in the second after a three-up-three-down top half. Defensively, the Green and Gold prevented a three-run inning, stranding two and only allowing one runner to cross home. However, the third inning saw Auburn respond with three runs to extend the lead to eight.

The Green and Gold made lineup adjustments in the top of the fourth. With Lindsey Smith striking out swinging, Olivia Valbak followed up with a walk to put a Blazer on base. However, they were unable to plate a runner after a groundout to second. UAB made more adjustments on the defense in the bottom of the fourth before Auburn tacked on a final run to close out the game with a nine-run performance.

UP NEXT
UAB returns to Mary Bowers Field on Friday, April 12-14 to take on the Memphis Tigers for AAC play. The Green and Gold will also celebrate Blazer Alumni for Alumni Weekend.
