Track & Field Finishes at USF, Alabama Invitationals

UAB Track and Field concluded the weekend at the South Florida Invitational and Crimson Tide Invitational, with notable performances in Tuscaloosa and Tampa.
CRIMSON TIDE INVITE
The Green and Gold appeared in distance and field events, with Trinity Fellows finishing with a top eight finish in pole vault with a 3.60m.
In addition to Fellows, freshman Lidia Longo set a personal best in the 3000-meter steeplechase, finishing sixth in the event. Longo finished with an 11:03.7, shaving off over 30 seconds from her first race at the Yellow Jacket Invitational. Lia Castillo would also finish with a personal best in the 1500, beating out her prior time from the UAB Spring Invitational. Alicia Abalos Cervera also ran a PR performance in the 800, placing eighth in the event and finishing with a 2:13.25.
SOUTH FLORIDA INVITATIONAL
In Tampa, UAB continued to have high finishes in sprints and field events.
In throws, Birthe Franck-Petersen finished tenth in shot put, while Mya McDanal finished the meet with a seventh-place finish in javelin.
Kat Duren also placed top-ten with a ninth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles before placing the Blazers sixth overall in the 4x100-meter relay. Duren, Gabby Washington, Hannah Smith, and Alayah Dozier placed sixth.
