Baseball Host South Alabama in Wednesday Midweek

BIRMINGHAM - Baseball season has flown by as the Blazers final three weeks approaches. UAB enters the week at a 7-11 conference record good enough for 9th place. The Blazers will look to climb the standings this weekend as they travel to Florida Atlantic. UAB has won two straight midweeks, and will be looking for a 3rd tomorrow.
Before the team flies to Boca Rotan, Florida they will face midweek opponent South Alabama on Wednesday. This will be the first time UAB faces off against South Alabama this season. Last year the teams did face off in a one run contest won by South Alabama. This was their first ever win in the series in just the 3rd ever game between the two opponents. The Blazers won the two other contests that happened in 2006 and 2009.
South Alabama sits at 25-18 on the year with a 10-11 conference record. The Jaguars have series wins against Jacksonville State, UNC Wilmington, Troy, Arkansas State, Texas State, and James Madison. Both South Alabama and UAB have wins over Alabama, Tulane, and Troy. USA has four guys hitting over the .275 mark and three guys with more than 20 RBIs. Micah Morgan leads all hitters with a .362 batting average. The Jaguars utilize the small game by ranking 22nd in sacrifice bunts. On the other side of the rankings, South Alabama sits at 265 out of 295 division one teams, in batting average (.253).
