BIRMINGHAM - The UAB baseball team closed out their three game series with a win. The Blazers won the series with wins on Friday and Sunday. UAB moves up to 9th place in the AAC standings, just two games back from 3rd place.

This game looked a lot different than the last two games with just four runs through six innings. The previous two games had an abundance of runs in the early innings. UAB did start with a one run 1st inning. Darryl Buggs started the hitting on the first pitch of the game with a double. Logan Braunshweig then stepped up and hit a single to score, the speedy, Buggs. Braunschweig was responsible for the 1st two runs of the game, because he also hit a home run in the 3rd innings that gave the blazers a 2-0 lead.

Colin Daniel did not allow a run until the 6th inning, and ended his day with 7.0 IP, 1 R, 4 K, and 1 BB. UAB scored one more time before that run in the 6th. Charlotte made five lineup changes in the inning and then Nick Hollifield killed a ball to left field to extend the lead to 3-0. Two singles in the 6th was able to score Defranco for Charlotte. Blazers led 3-1 after six innings.

UAB scored another two runs in the 7th inning hitting the ball just once in the inning. Brayton Brown drove in Braunschweig and Hollifield on a throwing error by Charlotte.

Brock Hill came in to earn the save in the 9th inning. Charlotte got to bases loaded with a couple of walks and a single before Hill struck out one and popped the other batters up.

UAB wins a crucial AAC series 2 games to 1.
