UAB MBB Adds Iona Transfer Greg Gordon

BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's basketball coach Andy Kennedy announced the addition of transfer guard Greg Demani Gordon on Monday. The 6'5" guard averaged 16.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per game during the 2023-24 season at Iona.
"We are excited to welcome Demani to Blazer Basketball." Head coach Andy Kennedy said, "He is a strong, versatile guard capable of impacting the game in a multitude of ways. His ability to get to the paint and rebound the basketball are big additions to our backcourt."
Gordon recorded nine double-doubles on the year, including a pair of 30-point, 10-rebound performances. He scored 35 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in a win over Fairfield before scoring 32 points and grabbing 10 boards at Niagara one week later.
He earned MAAC Player of the Week honors after averaging 31.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game in wins over Fairfield and Rider.
Gordon was ranked as the No. 16 player in the 2023 JUCORecruiting.com rankings after two years at Dyersburg State in Tennessee. Over two seasons of JUCO ball, he averaged 23.1 points and 11.4 rebounds. He ranked No. 2 in 2021-22 in rebounding in NJCAA DI with 12.2 rebounds per game and No. 10 in 2022-23 with 10.6 boards per game.
He earned NJCAA All-American honors in each of his two seasons at Dyersburg State, earning third team honors in 2021-22 and second team honors in 2022-23.
Gordon will be the fifth Blazer from the 2023 JUCO class on UAB's 2024-25 roster, joining Christian Coleman, Marquis Hargrove, Yaxel Lendeborg, and Alejandro Vasquez. Four of the five were ranked inside the top 16 of JUCORecruiting.com's Top 100 list.

Season tickets for the 2024-25 UAB men's basketball season are now available. Season ticket packages will feature all home games during the 2024-25 basketball season and provide the most cost-effective way to attend games at Bartow Arena.
