UAB Wins Game Three in Houston

HOUSTON, TX - UAB baseball won the 3rd game of the three game series in Houston. The Blazers put up nine hits in a 4-3 win.

Colin Daniel started quick with two strikeouts in the first inning, and five through two innings. UAB scored one run in back to back innings, making the score 2-1 Blazers. A team effort, as five Blazers hit in the first four innings. Mayes White started 2-2, hitting the first run across in David Harris. Rice added a run in the 3rd inning before UAB scored their second run in the 4th inning when Nick Hollifield hit his second home run of the season to left field.

The Green and Gold continued their scoring streak with two runs in the 5th. Brayton Brown hit a sacrifice fly and Nick Hollfield singled to left field to score Logan Braunschweig and Jake Smallwood. Braunschweig, Hollifield, and White all had two hits through five innings.

No runs were scored in innings six and seven, but Colin Daniel was still handing out strikeouts. Daniel worked until the 8th inning, when coach Casey Dunn decided to put in LHP Christian Clack. Daniel finished with 11 strikeouts on the day. Rice added one more run in the 8th inning. Ben Dukes singled to right center to score the unearned run because of an error by UAB. The Owls created one more chance in the 9th inning. Jack Riedel hit a lead off triple, but a ground out to Daniel and a failed sacrifice bunt attempt got two quick outs. Christian Clack then came in and got the last out with a strikeout looking. UAB won 4-3.

Next Game
UAB will travel to Tuscaloosa to play the Crimson Tide for the second time this season. First pitch is scheduled for Tuesday night at 6 p.m. The game will be streamed on SEC Network+.
