Softball to Host Childhood Cancer Awareness Game April 27

BIRMINGHAM – UAB Softball extends their contributions past the field for the up-and-coming series versus Charlotte. The Green and Gold will gear up for their inaugural Childhood Cancer Awareness Game on April 27, 2024, at Mary Bowers Field.
Organized by assistant coach Ashley Prange, the Blazers partner up with multiple organizations, including Friends of Jaclyn and Under Armour to serve those impacted by childhood cancer. "The goal of this event is to honor and bring awareness to those impacted by childhood cancer," said Prange.
Her inspiration to start the project came from her experiences supporting young girls impacted by cancer in her last year of college softball. "I always had a passion for childhood cancer, and I could see how softball put a smile on a little girl's face throughout my last collegiate season."
PARTNERSHIPS
UAB Softball has partnered with three organizations: Soles2Hope, Friends of Jaclyn, and Under Armour. "We were able to partner with Soles2Hope, Friends of Jaclyn, and Under Armour to give people the chance to create cleats to honor those who have battled or are currently battling cancer, and see their designs be worn in a collegiate softball game as well."
Soles2Hope is an organization dedicated to supporting children fighting critical health battles. Soles2Hope connects with those impacted by these battles and collaborates through the impact and reach of sport and advocacy.
Friends of Jaclyn is an organization with a mission to improve the quality of life for children fighting pediatric brain tumors, childhood cancer, and health battles. The mission is dedicated to connecting those affected with others through their adopt-a-child program, safe on the sidelines, and guardian angel programs. These programs connect an affected child with a high school or college team, providing support, encouragement, and safety.

This card is not valid for AAC or NCAA Championship events.
