UAB Finishes With Event Wins, Personal Bests in Day Two of Spring Invite

BIRMINGHAM – UAB Track and Field concluded the second day of the UAB Spring Invite with multiple top performances for the Blazers. The Green and Gold finished with three event wins and twenty top-eight wins.
The meet began with throws, where Tia Espinoza and Zoe Winkenwerder finished with top-eight finishes in the discus. Birthe Franck-Petersen also finished in the top eight with a 13.02m. In jumps, Aniyah Marshall and Nia Hill both had strong performances in the high jump, with Marshall totaling a personal best. Hill finished out with a season-best, and both finished within the top three.
Corinne Ball continued her PR run with a fourth-place performance in the triple jump, finishing right behind Loren Johnson. Trinity Fellows and Annika Huff additionally finished third and fourth in the pole vault.
In sprints, Kat Duren, Gabby Washington, Hannah Smith, and Alayah Dozier's "A" team had an NCAA top 100 performance in the 4x100 relay. The 46.31 performance placed them 89th in the nation. The UAB "B" team (Taylor Washington, Jasmine Dereje, Laney Bishop, Synai Jones) finished fourth.
Duren continued her performance in the 100 hurdles with an event win and NCAA Top 100 performance. Alicia Abalos Cervera also finished with an event win in the 400, and Gabby Washington followed suit with an event win in the 200m.
