MBB Travels to Face Memphis on Sunday

BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's basketball travels to Memphis on Sunday to face the Tigers for the second time this season. Tipoff is set for 4:30 p.m. CT.

SERIES HISTORY
Memphis leads the all-time series 39-12, including a 23-2 advantage at home. The Blazers took the first meeting of the season, 97-88. Yaxel Lendeborg led UAB with 23 points and 16 rebounds in the win while Eric Gaines added 20 points and four assists.
LAST TIME OUT
The Blazers fell to Wichita State on Wednesday at home, 74-66. Alejandro Vasquez had 18 of his 22 points in the first half while Yaxel Lendeborg nearly helped the Blazers erase a 19-point second half deficit with 20 points and 15 rebounds.
YAX SEASON
Yaxel Lendeborg has become a dominant force in his debut season at UAB. The 6'9" forward is averaging 13.9 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game and he is one of 15 players in college basektball averaging a double-double this season. He earned AAC Player of the Week honors after putting up 24 points and grabbing 15 rebounds in a win over UNC Asheville and followed up that performance with 23 points, 15 rebounds and seven blocks at UTSA. Lendeborg put up yet another impressive double-double with 23 points, 16 boards and four assists against No. 19 Memphis. He posted an eye-popping 17 points and 21 rebounds in a win over No. 20 Florida Atlantic before earned AAC Player of the Week honors for the second time. His 21 boards are the second-most by a Blazer in program history.
MOST WINS OVER FOUR SEASONS
With the Blazers' win over East Carolina on January 20, 2024, Andy Kennedy earned his 90th win at UAB, which is the most by a UAB coach over his first four seasons. Mike Anderson previously held the record with 89 wins from 2002-06. Additionally, Kennedy's tenure marks the most wins over any four year period at UAB, surpassing 1983-87 under Gene Bartow.
