Baseball to Host #15 Alabama at Regions Field

BIRMINGHAM - The UAB baseball team will be back in action tomorrow night at Regions Field. Regions field is the host site of two Blazer baseball games this year with tomorrow's game against #15 Alabama.
Alabama is coming off a series sweep over Valparaiso, where the Crimson Tide won all three games in seven innings. Alabama has started out with a perfect 8-0 record, winning all eight games at home. Last year Alabama hosted an NCAA Regional then advanced to a Super Regional, but lost in two games to Wake Forest. UA finished the year with a record of 43-21. Alabama will start freshman LHP Zane Adams, who has made five appearances in 5.0 innings pitched. He has only given up two hits and has a .000 ERA.
UAB Notes
UAB will start Sophomore, RHP Braxton Shlelton. Shleton has appeared in one game with 1.2 innings pitched and a 5.40 ERA.
The Blazers are coming off a series loss to Southeastern Louisiana where SLU outscored UAB 22-13.
Leading UAB in the hitting department are Jake Smallwood (.333), Logan Braunschweig (.250), and Brayton Brown (.250). Brown leads the team in slugging % with .464 at the DH position.
Four players have appeared and started in all seven games including: Jake Smallwood, Brayton Brown, Tyler Harrington, and Darryl Buggs. Buggs leads the team in RBIs with five.

UAB has won 16 of the 43 total games played vs Alabama. Last year UAB split the series against the Crimson Tide losing game one 12-2 in 8 innings. Most recently, UAB beat Alabama 4-3 at Regions Field in a game that took both teams into the 11th inning.
