BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's tennis (3-3) downed Southern Miss (0-1) on Monday afternoon in Tuscaloosa, 6-1. Carlos Gimenez Perez won his fourth straight singles match.

The Blazers captured the doubles point with wins on Court No. 1 and Court No. 2.

UAB won five of six singles courts in the match, including a three-set thriller on Court One. Carlos Gimenez Perez improved his record to 4-2 on the season while Vojtech Podzemny picked up his first win of the season on Court One. Freshman Juan Pablo Valdez won his first collegiate match on Court Five.
