UAB Women’s Tennis Releases Spring 2025 Schedule

BIRMINGHAM – UAB women's tennis has announced the full 2025 spring schedule that will open on January 18. The Blazers are in their 12th season under head coach Mark Tjia.
UAB will open the season at Auburn (Jan. 18) before coming home to host Presbyterian on January 24. The Blazers hit the road for four straight matches at Alabama State (Jan. 26), Mississippi State (Feb. 2), North Alabama (Feb. 4) and North Florida (Feb. 8) which will be played in Auburn, Alabama.
The Green and Gold return to Birmingham to welcome Belmont on February 9 before heading down the road to face Samford (Feb. 12). UAB is back at home for four matches and host Minnesota (Feb. 15), Lipscomb (Feb. 16), Georgia State (Feb. 22) and Florida A&M (Feb. 23).
The Blazers are on the road for seven matches at Austin Peay (Feb. 28), Alabama A&M (March 2), Louisville (March 9), Bellarmine (March 11), Eastern Kentucky (March 12), North Texas (March 21) for the first conference opponent of the season and then AAC opponent Tulane (March 22) which will be played in Denton, Texas.
UAB travels to Western Kentucky on March 29 and Jacksonville State on April 1 and then close out the regular season at Kennesaw State on April 12.
The American Athletic Conference Tournament is scheduled for April 17-20 in Memphis, Tennessee.

The Blazers spent the fall competing in five tournaments where they saw 34 doubles wins and 31 singles victories.
Six players qualified for the main draw round at the ITA Regionals. The tandem of Vanessa Mellynchuk and Gresi Bajri and the duo of Klara Kajabova and Mackenzie White made it to the doubles Round of 16 at the ITA Regionals.
At the American Athletic Championships, Bajri made the quarterfinals while Mellynchuk competed her way to the Round of 16. The AAC Championship is the top two players from each AAC school.
After the fall season was over, Bajri, Nera Tesankic and Kristyna Damaskova spent time in Turkey and Egypt playing in pro tournaments. Bajri won three rounds in singles in the Antalya, Turkey 15k, while Tesankic fell in the singles first round qualifying. Bajri and Tesankic got a wild card into the main draw and won their first round to make the quarterfinals.
Damaskova competed in Egypt where she lost in the first round of qualifying for the 35K.
