Women’s Basketball Hosts Southern Miss on Sunday

BIRMINGHAM – UAB women's basketball is back in Bartow Arena to host Southern Miss on Sunday, December 1. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. CT.
The Blazers enter Monday's game 4-2, while Southern Miss is 2-5 on the season. The game marks the 71st time the two teams have faced each other, and the Golden Eagles lead the all-time series 42-28. Under head coach Randy Norton, UAB is 9-7 against Southern Miss.
Southern Miss is coming off a 79-57 loss to Texas A&M on Monday at the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in Paradise Island, Bahamas and also fell 101-55 to No. 18/17 Baylor and 85-66 to Columbia during the tournament. UAB fell to Clemson, 90-52, in the first round of the Emerald Coast Classic in Niceville, Florida, but claimed a 76-43 victory over Alabama State to close out the tournament.
Rayne Tucker led the Blazers with a season-high 23 points, while Maddie Walsh added 21 points to the stat sheet against ASU. Jade Weathersby collected 10 rebounds, while Tucker had six and Walsh and Molly Moffitt had five apiece to total 26 of the team's 45 rebounds. Walsh was named to the Emerald Coast Classic All-Tournament Team for her efforts.
Walsh leads UAB with 12.5 points per game while Weathersby is following behind with 11.7 points per game. Armstead is averaging 9.7 points per game while Sara Bershers is recording 9.0 points per game. Weathersby is leading in the rebound category with 10.3 rebounds per game.
Offensively, Southern Miss is led by Melyia Grayson who averages 15.9 points per game and Nyia Jean who averages 9.9 points per game.
2024-25 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SEASON TICKETS
