UAB Women’s Basketball Announces Non-Conference Schedule

BIRMINGHAM – UAB women's basketball announced its 2026-27 non-conference schedule on Monday.
"We are excited about the balance and regional focus of our non-conference schedule," head coach Randy Norton said. "A significant portion of our games are against in-state opponents and programs from neighboring states, which creates great opportunities for our student-athletes and fans. It highlights the strength of basketball throughout our region. Matchups against Alabama schools such as South Alabama and Alabama A&M, along with contests against Southern Miss, Jackson State, Murray State, Chattanooga and UT Martin, allow us to compete against familiar programs while continuing to build interest in women's basketball across the Southeast."
The Blazers open the 2026-27 campaign when UAB welcomes Fisk on Nov. 4. to a newly renovated Bartow Arena. The matchup will mark the first-ever meeting between the two programs. The Green and Gold face their first road test of the season at South Alabama on Nov. 7 for the 47th matchup between the two teams. Returning home on Nov. 11, the Blazers welcome Stillman before hitting the road to Alabama A&M on Nov. 19. The matchup against Stillman will be the first ever meeting between the two programs, while UAB holds an 11-0 record against the AAMU.
A trip to Jacksonville, Fla., for the Scout Jacksonville Classic will follow during Thanksgiving week against George Washington on Nov. 23 and Virginia on Nov. 24. George Washington made it the Great Eight in the WNIT last year. The last time the two teams played was back in 1994. Virginia made it to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament last season. UAB will play the Cavaliers for the second time in program history after meeting Virginia in 2006.
UAB returns home for the remainder of non-conference play. The Green and Gold will be hosting Mississippi Valley State (Nov. 29), Murray State (Dec. 1), Southern Miss (Dec. 6), Chattanooga (Dec. 13), Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Dec. 15), Jackson State (Dec. 19) and UT Martin (Dec. 22).
UAB holds a 14-0 record against MVSU, with the season's matchup marking the 15th meeting between the two teams. Last season, the Blazers met Murray State for the first time since 1995, and this season's matchup will be the sixth meeting with the Racers in program history. The Green and Gold will face Southern Miss for the 74th time while facing Chattanooga for the 39th time. UAB faces Arkansas-Pine Bluff for the sixth time, Jackson State for the ninth time and UT Martin for the seventh time in program history.
"Our schedule provides a strong mix of home games, road challenges, and a neutral-site tournament in Florida that will test us in different environments before American Conference play begins," Norton said. "We believe this schedule will prepare us for the demands of conference competition while giving our fans the opportunity to see an exciting brand of basketball at Bartow Arena throughout the season."
