UAB and Charlotte Clash in 2024 Season Finale

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB football team concludes the 2024 season this Saturday, Nov. 30, at Charlotte. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. CT on ESPN+.

A win would be UAB's first road victory of the season and would end the year on a two-game winning streak. Charlotte is also coming off a victory after defeating Florida Atlantic last Saturday in Boca.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR:

UAB had its best defensive performance of the season last week in a 40-14 victory over Rice. The Blazers intercepted the Owls three times and had 10 pass breakups. Adrian Maddox had a 99-yard interception return for a touchdown on the final play of the first half which gave UAB control of the game.
Despite missing the first half of last week's game, linebacker Michael Moore still led the team with nine tackles while adding 1.5 TFL and an interception. Moore is having an exceptional year with 91 total tackles and will need to replicate last week's success to reach 100 tackles. Moore will also be out for the first half of the Charlotte game.
Lee Beebe Jr. is coming off the best game of his career with 16 carries for 161 yards and two touchdowns. Beebe Jr. has 802 total rushing yards this year and faces a Charlotte team that ranks 126th nationally in rushing defense, allowing 217.8 rushing yards per game.
Overall, the 49ers are ranked 116th in total defense and give up an average of 432.8 yards per game. On the flip side, UAB currently ranks 67th in total offense at 388.5 per game.
UAB's top two receivers in Kam Shanks and Amare Thomas look to end the season strong on Saturday. With Thomas limited last week, Shanks stepped up with seven catches and now has 58 for the season. Thomas has 56 receptions this year and both rank top five for single season receptions at UAB heading into the season finale.
Shanks is also 38 yards away from setting the single season school record for punt return yards. Shanks is leading the nation in punt return yards (313), average (20.9) and touchdowns (2).
Another school record is in jeopardy of falling this Saturday if sophomore kicker Jonah Delange can make two field goals at Charlotte. Delange is currently 21-of-22 and eyes a new school record of 23 made field goals in a season. He is also perfect on PAT (28-of-28) and has had an outstanding season for the Blazers.
Charlotte interim head coach Tim Brewster led the 49ers to victory last week in his first game as acting head coach.
Charlotte's O'Mega Blake is the reigning AAC Offensive Player of the Week after tallying five catches for 205 yards and three touchdowns of 47, 54 and 75 yards. 49ers kicker Stephen Rusnack was tabbed AAC Special Teams Player of the Week for making all four of his field goal attempts.
