Men’s Soccer Closes Non-Conference Play at Gardner-Webb

BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's soccer (4-4-4, 1-3-1 AAC) will close out its non-conference slate on Tuesday evening on the road at Gardner-Webb (7-3-2, 3-0-1 Big South). Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. CT.
Tuesday's match will stream live on ESPN+.
SERIES HISTORY
UAB leads the all-time series over the Runnin' Bulldogs, 3-0-1. The last meeting came during the 2021 season when the Blazers downed GWU by a score of 5-1.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE BLAZERS
The Blazers fell to AAC foe Temple on Saturday night by a score of 1-0. UAB outshot the Owls 18-10 but were unable to get on the board despite hitting the post twice.
SCOUTING THE RUNNIN' BULLDOGS
Gardner-Webb has accrued an impressive 7-3-2 record during the 2024 season. They are led by Elias Khodri who has scored seven goals this season. GWU's keeper Alan Horrocks has two clean sheets on the season and holds a 1.30 GAA.
SOPHOMORE SENSATIONS
UAB Sophomores have scored 11 of the Blazers' 14 goals this season, led by Humphrey Doh, Tony Kim, and Lucas Rizzo with three goals each. Isaac Calderon and Gui Gragnano each have scored once this season.
LILLY'S TURNAROUND
David Lilly took over the reins for UAB after the Blazers did not win a match during the 2023 season. So far this year, Lilly has helped UAB reach its highest win total since 2018, reach as high as 30 in the RPI, win its first conference match since 2021 and pick up a win over an ACC opponent for the first time since 2011.
