Men's Soccer Falls to Temple, 1-0

BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's soccer (4-4-4, 1-3-1 AAC) fell at home to Temple (4-6-4, 1-2-2 AAC) on Saturday night by a score of 1-0. The Owls were able to break through in the second half for the win.
The Blazers had the majority of the chances on the night, outshooting the Owls 18-10, but UAB struggled to get its shots on frame, mustering only three.
In the ninth minute, Tony Kim hit the post on a right footed shot, nearly putting the Blazers ahead. UAB continued to have quality chances but could not find the back of the net.
Jonathan Munteanu was strong in goal for the Blazers in the first half, preventing the Owls from getting on the board early.
Kim again had a quality look, but found the bottom of the crossbar, keeping the match scoreless in the 50th minute.
A few minutes later, the ball fell to Xavier Rimpel at the top of the box after a failed clearance and he was able to find the back of the net for the only goal of the night.
The Owls were able to keep UAB off the board in the final stages to secure the match by a score of 1-0.
UP NEXT
UAB will travel to Gardner-Webb on Tuesday for its final non-conference match of the season. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. CT in Boiling Springs, N.C.
