UAB Women’s Tennis Falls Against Jacksonville State

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's tennis team fell to Jacksonville State 4-1 in its home opener on Tuesday afternoon.

The Blazers claimed the doubles point to begin the afternoon. Enya Ratkic and Klara Kajabova were the first UAB duo to grab a doubles win by defeating Irene Artigas and Dariana Prato 6-3.

UAB's tandem of Sydney Clarke and Adela Wasserbauerova took down Anna Syrova and Zuzana 6-3 to clinch the doubles point.

Jacksonville State bounced back and took control in singles play. Annalisa Smith took the first set against Zuzana Pavelekova 6-4, but fell 6-4 in set two to Pavelkova. Smith was up 5-3 in set three before the match went unfinished.

UAB hits the road to Starkville, Mississippi to take on Mississippi State on Feb. 3 at noon.
