BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's soccer (0-2-2) led for the majority of Sunday's match against Houston Christian (1-2-1), but a late Huskies' goal ended it in a 1-1 draw.
The Blazers controlled the majority of the match firing 17 shots to HCU's eight. UAB's 17 shots mark its most in a single season since 2019.
UAB could not turn any of its chances into a goal until very late in the first half. With under 30 seconds remaining in the half, the ball found Haris Osmanbasic ahead of the defense and he was able to net his first goal as a Blazer. Osmanbasic is the fourth different goal scorer for the Blazers this season, each of the goal scorers recorded their first UAB goals this season.
In the second half, the Blazers had a plethora of chances to push the lead to 2-0, but they could not take advantage. Late in the game, HCU was able to find some space behind the UAB defense and tucked in a goal with less than two minutes remaining, ending it in a tie.
