UAB Men’s Soccer Hosts Soccer for the Cure Tournament

BIRMINGHAM - UAB men's soccer will host Chicago State and Houston Christian this weekend for the Soccer for the Cure Tournament on the campus of Birmingham-Southern. UAB will face off with Chicago State on Friday night at 7 p.m. CT at Goldfarb Field at Berylson Soccer Park before facing the Huskies on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT. Admission will be free to every contest during the tournament.
Belmont with face Houston Christian on Friday at 4:30 p.m. CT and Chicago State on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT in the other two contests of the tournament.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the first meeting between UAB and Chicago State. The Blazers lead the all-time series against Houston Christian 1-0.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE BLAZERS
The Blazers fell on the road at Georgia State, 5-1. Isaac Calderon scored a goal for the second consecutive game to begin his collegiate career.
SCOUTING THE COUGARS
Chicago State enters Friday's contest with a 1-1 record. The Cougars picked up their first win of the season on Sunday over Milwaukee, 3-2. CSU is coached by Norris Howze, a former UAB midfielder from 2010-13, who enters his second year with the program.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
Houston Christian enters the weekend with 1-1 record after defeating Omaha, 4-1, on Sunday. HCU went 5-8-6 in 2022 and they return two of their top three scorers as well as their primary goalkeeper.
FRESHMAN MAKING AN EARLY IMPACT
Isaac Calderon is making his mark early in his UAB career. The freshman from North Las Vegas, Nev. put one in the back of the net in his collegiate debut at Northern Kentucky and followed that up with another goal at Georgia State in game two. Calderon was ranked as the No. 64 player in Top Drawer Soccer's recruiting rankings for the 2023 class.
GOLD CARD
Men's Soccer season tickets are available for $65 by purchasing the 2023-24 Gold Card. The Gold Card will allow you to gain access to all home events for Women's Soccer, Men's Soccer, Volleyball, Women's Basketball, Softball, and Baseball (Regions Field & Young Memorial). This card is not valid for American Athletic Conference or NCAA Championship events.
