Men's Soccer Falls at Georgia State

ATLANTA – UAB men's soccer (0-1-1) fell on the road at Georgia State (1-1) in a rain-delayed affair, 5-1. Freshman Isaac Calderon scored his second collegiate goal in only his second game as a Blazer.
The match started over two hours after its scheduled kickoff, but the Panthers were able to take control early as Simon Carlson converted on a penalty kick less than five minutes into the match. In the 23rd minute, Georgia State was able to get on the board once again with a Tom Williams goal. The Panthers were able to add two more goals before the half, both scored by Ethan Sassine.
Both teams were held scoreless for the first portion of the second half until Georgia State broke through with its fifth goal in the 71st minute toput the score at 5-0.
Isaac Calderon was a bright spot for the Blazers once again, scoring his second goal in his second collegiate game.

The Blazers will host the Soccer for the Cure Tournament at Goldfarb Field at Berylson Soccer Park on the campus of Birmingham-Southern. UAB will face Chicago State on Friday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. CT and then Houston Christian at 2 p.m. CT on Sunday, Sept. 3. Belmont will face Houston Christian at 4:30 p.m. CT on Friday and then Chicago State at 11 a.m. CT on Sunday in the two neutral site matches. Admission is free for the entirety of the tournament.
GOLD CARD
Men's Soccer season tickets are available for $65 by purchasing the 2023-24 Gold Card. The Gold Card will allow you to gain access to all home events for Women's Soccer, Men's Soccer, Volleyball, Women's Basketball, Softball, and Baseball (Regions Field & Young Memorial). This card is not valid for American Athletic Conference or NCAA Championship events.
