Fish McWilliams Named to Chuck Bednarik Award Watch List

BIRMINGHAM – Senior nose tackle Fish McWilliams has been selected to the 16th and final preseason watch list as he was named to the Chuck Bednarik Award Watch List on Monday, which is annually presented to the nation's most outstanding defensive player by the Maxwell Football Club.
McWilliams is one of 85 players in the nation who was named to the Bednarik Award Watch List and one of five from the American Athletic Conference. He is also a candidate for the Outland Trophy and was a preseason First Team All-AAC selection by Pro Football Focus and Phil Steele.
The fifth-year senior enters his final year as a Blazer having appeared in 52 career games with 70 tackles, 18 TFL and 11 sacks.
He is coming off his best season yet in 2022 with 32 tackles, 5.5 TFL, 2.0 sacks, four QBH and a forced fumble. McWilliams is also a force in the run game despite by taking on multiple double teams and clogging running lanes for opposing offenses.
McWilliams and the Blazers are 17 days away from kicking off the 2023 season at Protective Stadium against North Carolina A&T on Aug. 31.
