BIRMINGHAM – UAB Softball adds another name to the helm of their coaching staff for the upcoming season. Chandler Dare-Brooks was named as an assistant coach by head coach AJ Daugherty.
"We are very excited to add Chandler to our staff. She brings tons of knowledge and passion. Her experience as a player at a high level and her background of helping players develop make her a home run hire," said Daugherty. "As a coach, it's always fun to work alongside former players; I think Chandler immediately makes us better."
Dare-Brooks, who played for Alabama from 2014 to 2017, had an extensive and successful campaign with the Crimson Tide. The former outfielder would help Alabama to World Series Appearances in 2014, 2015, and 2016, a Super Regional Appearance in 2017, and a Regular Season Championship title in 2014.
Her coaching experience is extensive, starting as the head middle school coach and an assistant varsity coach at American Christian Academy. She also coached at Samford, serving as an assistant coach for the 2019 season. Through 2020, she coached at Valor Christian in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
From 2020 to 2023, Dare-Brooks served as a private softball instructor in Alabama, Colorado, and Florida.
Dare-Brooks attended American Christian Academy, where she played under the tutelage of Daugherty. She is the daughter of Austin and Marla, wife of Phillip, mother of Peter, and dog mom of Wrigley and Apollo.
"I'd like to thank Coach AJ Daugherty and UAB Athletics for this incredible opportunity," said Dare-Brooks. "I'm very excited to help lead and serve these student-athletes at UAB softball on and off the field along with Coaches Daugherty, Burch, and Hanson. Go Blazers!"
