Previewing UAB’s Home Schedule: Game 4 – Memphis

BIRMINGHAM – In the most highly anticipated home game of the season, UAB and Memphis renew the Battle for the Bones rivalry on Oct. 21, 2023, at Protective Stadium.
A series that dates back to 1997, UAB and Memphis will meet for the 16th time with UAB owning a 10-5 lead. The Blazers won seven straight contests from 2000-06 and won three in a row from 2009-11, but Memphis won the final meeting between the two schools in 2012 and currently has possession of the Bones trophy. This year's game will mark the first contest with both schools participating as members of the American Athletic Conference.
The game at Protective Stadium will feature one of the most unique trophies in all of college sports and one of the most unique pregame traditions with a sanctioned rib cookoff outside of the stadium. More information on the Battle for the Bones rib cookoff will be released at a future date.
Both UAB and Memphis have been two of the winningest Group of 5 teams in recent years as both rank top six in win percentage dating back to 2015 (5. Memphis, 68-35, .660 – 6. UAB, 50-26, .658). As new regional rivals within the American Athletic Conference, UAB and Memphis will meet annually for at least the next four years (2023-26).
Season tickets for the 2023 UAB Football season are also still available starting as low as $99. Season ticket packages provide the most affordable way to catch the Blazers in action during all six home games. Season ticket holders also have priority access to purchase additional single game and away game tickets starting on July 18, 2023.
