UAB Prepares For Regular Season Finale at Charlotte

BIRMINGHAM – UAB Softball enters the final week of conference play and the regular season by traveling to the Queen City to take on Charlotte at Daughtridge Stadium.
The Green and Gold came off a second sweep over UTEP to conclude their home campaign at Mary Bowers last week. UAB sits at a record of 28-21 and 15-6 in conference standings holding the No. 1 spot in the league. They take on the No. 2 49ers May 5-7 to determine the C-USA Regular Season Champion going into the 2023 Conference Tournament.

SCOUTING THE 49ERS
The Blazers' and 49ers' history traces back to 2016 when UAB defeated Charlotte 9-1 in five innings. In the most recent meeting between UAB and Charlotte, the Blazers fell to the 49ers 0-8 in the 2022 C-USA Championships. Overall, the Green and Gold lead Charlotte by 24 wins.
The 49ers enter the final week of the regular season with a 30-18 record, with a Power 5 win over UNC on April 26. Charlotte would be one of the first C-USA teams to finish with a 30-Win season behind MTSU and FAU. The 49ers had three C-USA Players of the Week, including catcher Bailey Vannoy and infielder Kassidy Krupit.
Vannoy sits second on the team in batting with an average of .310 behind Krupit's average of .390. The two hold the top two leader spots in slugging, hits, RBIs, doubles, and homers. Krupit leads the team in multi-hit games with 12 two-hit games and seven three-hit games. Charlotte had a game-high 41 at-bats against Campbell and five homers against Boston.
As a team, the 49ers sit behind the Blazers in batting, sitting sixth in league standings with .265 to the Blazers' .266. However, in pitching, the 49ers have the Green and Gold beat out with a team ERA of 3.07 to UAB's 3.18. Charlotte also holds the highest team fielding percentage in the league with a fielding percentage of .975.
