Track & Field Travels to Knoxville for Tennessee Invite

BIRMINGHAM – UAB Track & Field travels to the Volunteer State to compete at the University of Tennessee Easter Weekend. The Blazers finished last weekend on a high note at the UAB Spring Invite, finishing with double-digit PRs, three event wins, and a season-best.
The Tennessee Invite features a three-day competition starting on April 6 and concluding on April 8. UAB is one of 24 teams to compete at the meet, joining the likes of fellow C-USA member MTSU, future American Athletic Conference member Cincinnati and more.
Blazers participating in the meet include Tia Espinoza, who set a personal record in the hammer throw with a 33.26m at the UAB Spring Invite. Megan Hamilton-Strong and Laney Kronz represent the Green and Gold in the Heptathlon. Hamilton-Strong finished with a personal best performance in the pentathlon in her indoor season with a score of 3435.
Also competing on the weekend is Sangie Lincoln-Velez in the 1500m, where she set a personal best at the UAB Spring Invite last weekend. In sprints, Eriyanna Reed represents the Green and Gold after a second-place finish in the 400m at the Blazers' home meet. Alayah Dozier is also set to compete in the 200, where she placed second in her event.
In jumps, Shauntia Landrum will compete in both the long and triple jump for the Blazers after back-to-back weeks of winning in each event for the outdoor season.
A total of 21 athletes from the Blazers are set to compete in Knoxville.
